Wordpress??
Okay, who out there, my dear, dear readers knows ANYTHING about wordpress? I'm giving Aria a major headache and I can't seem to find any simple how to's...
Here is what i need..
To make a banner, change the background colors, add navigation links to the upper toolbar thingy, somehow get a paypal shopping cart on the patterns for sale page, if possible get an rss feed for the links, and I also need how to figure out how to immediately auto-send patterns to the buyer..
HELLLLLLLLLPPPPPPPP! Anyone who helps will get a lifetime supply of my patterns, any or all of them! It's a gift that keeps on giving! Just leave a comment or email me at knittingforboozehags AT gmail DOT com! And if you would like something else other than patterns, I'll work it out with you!

Andrea has stepped up to the plate and is doing all of the wordpress stuff! This is PERFECT because her site is pretty similar to what I had in mind! So I am just completely ecstatic, elated and downright pysched about that!! Honestly, if it weren't for her, there may have been no new site. I didn't realize at all how very difficult it would be, or how completely inept I am at this shit. My main goal is to just get everything up and running so I can concentrate on other projects, assuming I won't end up in a cold sweat wearing a straightjacket mumbling incoherently things like 'css, rss, theme, template, theme, and I am about to get kicked off of here, so I am going to save and post it up
Okay, I'm back. This "your session is about to expire" stuff is for the birds. So anyways, Andrea rules and i am going to have to do some VERY NICE things for my momma!
And thanks to Sylvie and Isela, who both emailed me with the "payloadz" info, which I am going to do! It works in conjunction with pay pal and is what automatically sends the pattern after payment.
Seriously, girls... I feel so very very lucky to have such a great network of support! I honestly would be utterly lost without all of you helping me out! The biggest thing that sucks is that I can't rally you all together and buy you all drinks!
As for my "other' projects.. I have in the brainstorm department ... a GREAT idea. I can't divulge too much as nothing is solid yet, but let me just say that it will involve a handful of some VERY talented folks. And of course, I'll be knitting my rear end off with new stuff for free and for sale.. Up untill Andrea stepped up, I was feeling extremely overwhelmed! And I do need to do alot of research and homework, so it'll be a while before this all comes to fruition, but I will keep you posted!
Okay, I'm off to pop a vicodin, drink a glass of wine, find my pocket protector and glasses and get all internerdy!

I know nothing about Wordpress, but I feel your pain. I'm trying to set up a shopsite and it's overwhelming to realise suddenly, floodingly, how little I know...no wonder there're people who do this full-time. All that hand-coding, linking, support, alignment editing, e-mail, building forms, surveysaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!

i've used wordpress at work so i can definitely help with some things like changing backgroun colors, adding nav links, and rss feeds too, i think. the shopping card stuff i haven't done before but i can try that out too if you want.

Some of the stuff you want has to do with Wordpress and some doesn't!
Stuff that does have to do with wordpress:
General Layout stuff: There are a bunch of available "themes" you can start with. Find one with a layout you like.
You change colors by fiddling the a file called "Style css". if you think you have a theme you like, and know what color you want for things, I which line to change in the css file. (Basically there will be a line that says color, and then, likely, a 6 digit 'number' that sets the color. You need to know what to set that too.)
You can easlly add text links to the navigation bar at the top, the way I do. You just need to add the right code to a file called "header.php" in the "theme" you pick. Fancier would require work. You can also slide a banner into the header, although I had some trouble with my image. (But, mostly , I just decided to bag it after 10 minutes)
I haven't tried to install a paypal shopping cart, so I don't know anything about that. That, and autosending patterns is not, strictly speaking a Wordpress issue.
I'm afraid I'm not good enough at wordpress to just "do it". It took me a while to get the site to look the way I want! But, I could at least tell you what I use!

I moved before I was ready and still don't know how to archive. b2evolution is an easy upload if you have trouble with Wordpress. Wordpress seemed harder and b2 had skin changes?!?! Either way - I'm not using either - even if I still can't archive the right way!!

The RSS feeds for the links are available with your link lists, just leave the URL of the rss feed to make it appear.
