Linky dinks

I FOUND THE LINK!!!!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAH MUWAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA< HERE IT IS

So, I am more determined to find that pattern. I am warning you now. This post is purely for 'organizational' reasons only, and please feel free to check the links out.. I needed to clear out my favorites list. I have put alot of stuff in there....some are blogs, some are info, some things I don't even remember WHY they are there..

I give to you (but more for me, tee hee) a chaotic mess to weed through!

Knit pro, for knitting a picture, any picture!

A fistful of stitches, blog

A mingled yarn, blog... she knits very beautifully, I think I drooled

Celtic key designs for knitting

Adriafil, drool

The knitting club for boys and girls

The homespun cape, caution there's errors in the pattern

Ladies vest from 1891, not vintage, but paleolithic, baby!

The "I don't care if you hate poncho's! Take this!" link

Grenadine girl, I can't figure out what it is about the blog, but I just like it!

Sarah Durrant! Designing tips

Someday I will knit this, using the ruffles from knitting on the edge, someday, when I find the time

Sylvie turned me on to this site, BRILLIANT!

Some designing inspiration circa the 70's

native american motiffs, one day I'll do the whole intarsia thing

So that's that, I deleted a bunch and only the above made it. I feel the need to add more...

The main thing is, mission accomplished, I found the top pattern! suhweeeeet. (I say that jokingly, I don't actually use that term, when I do, it's in a joking manner. Sometimes you have to point that out, some people take you seriously)

Oh Susannah!!!

My very cool secret pal Susannah sent me a package~! Let me just say I love it~

I have to run to the store super quick, go go go grease lightnin', but when I return, I will write more..

Before I forget... Must write about Joy/cd, ummmm, ooops the water, more about susannah, and a zillion other things.. but for now feast your eyes on what I just got in the mail! Back in a half hour!

medium_secret_pal_goodies.jpg
here's what I got! You can see to the bottom left corner, a CD!! Yes, yes, Sweet sassy Susannah made me a KICKASS cd! With some great songs. The chick has good taste, I think they matched us pretty well! Some of the artists included are the Cramps, William Schatner (!!!), Siouxsie and the Banshees (how did she know THAT??), Husker Du (Old school, anyone?), T. Rex, Slade, the Yeah Yeah Yeah's, and 14 more! I am putting it in as I write!
medium_then_i_thought_crap_.jpg
Some yummy RAIN soap from The Soap Opera!  i have to say, that's some ingenius marketing on their part.
medium_magnets.jpg
3 VERY retro, very neato, bottlecap magnets! One is a Sloth(again, she knows me so well!), the other is a parrot, and the 3rd is a lil chick holding a cake or a yellow meat loaf!
medium_handspun.jpg
Some handspun merino (sooooo soft!)yarn from  The knitted Brow
medium_grapeseed.jpg
And gentle nature soap, it smells so good, I may actually bathe myself today!

I know I'm a  greasy scummy hesher chick, but does my secret pal?? Hahahaha, 2 bars of soap lady! USE THEM! (I'm just kidding!)

Oh my god! The william shatner song is SO f***ing hillarious!!! I think my favorite part is when they go "cuz everyone hates a tourist!" How absolutely fitting for this here place in the summer! Susannah, you have outdone yourself mama! I can't wait to find out who you are!

Okay, so in her travels, Miss JOY ever so kindly took orders from the bitch brigade and she got me the brandy spanking new hot off the burner ART FIBERS SOFTWARE!!!!! I think it'll be here tomorrow! I may lose sleep over this waiting in anticipation!

Oh, and YES, you all well know by now that I am either brain dead or mildy retarded. My pool water keeps turning GREEN! Yes, yes, I put algaecide in it! Yes, yes, the chlorine was right. Yet, it still turned VERDE! Sooooo, I let the water out. I left the WATER ON! As in ALL NIGHT! This may be hard for some of you water conservationists to hear! And I swear, I didn't mean to! See, so everyone who I forget to write or call or meet up with in a timely fashion, it's not YOU! I'm just a spacy chick. Here's what I don't get... THE WATER IS STILL GREEN!!!!!! I'm doomed.

To mon amie Sylvie, you didn't have to send me anything for doing that you know!! I was happy to help out! Everyone must check this out, scroll down a bit to see her beautiful shrug she's designed!! Pattern available soon via Sylvie!!!

Can anyone tell me why I keep dreaming about Matt Pike running around half naked with a towel wrapped around his head like a turban?? Me neither! But it's like the umpteenth night in a row.. I have been having the WEIRDEST dreams lately.

And my new addiction is playing hand after hand of solataire on the computer. It's like CRACK! I keep saying "just one more game! JUST ONE MORE GAME!!!!" What in the hell is wrong with me and does the mercury in retrograde have anything to do with the fact that I just can't seem to win more than 2 games out of like 50??? I think it's rigged!!!!

SYLVIE! Here are 2 links, one is for the purse pattern I told you about, and the other is something I really wanna make one of these years!!!!!

Purse pattern from retro knits

One of the coolest tops I have ever seen, I mean BRAVO!!! Arrrrgh, I LOST THE LINK!! It's called something like the corset top, someone please please send the link if you know what I am talking about.. I suck!

PAM!

Yesterday I took Helena and myself to go and see Pam! It was so much fun! She's got a great family. A BEAUTIFUL, smart, and cool 5 year old daughter, who was SO GREAT with Helena! We barely had to watch them! It was such a great break! A sweet husband who cooks! And he made this great ginger wine that was yummy!

But more about PAM! I love her! It felt like I had known her for 10 years! She's hillarious! I feel like such a heel for not meeting up with her sooner. This is definitely a chick I can go to shows with, have drinks with, confide in and hang out with ALOT!

By the way, speaking of pal's.. HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOY!!!!!! Hope you have a great one!

And, the bad news.. MErcury is going into retrograde. So you all know what that means. If life is crazy, expensive and all of your mechanical items start to go wonky, there is the reason why!

I just made a shrug! I am pattern testing for Sylvie! Yey! Not only is it beautiful, but it's a super fun knit. I'm going to make another! I'll give you more details when I can. I think she will be selling this pattern in the very near future.

What else? Hmmm. The Cactus Grille in Providence... Ate there last night. It was like really expensive Alpo with some cayenne in it. Will NEVER eat there again! EWWWWW!

Oh yeah..... I almost forgot, how could I???? Last night on the way home there were like 4 or 5 crazy rice rocket riders on the road! They took up BOTH lanes, kept cutting in front of everyone, wouldn't let anyone pass.... AND TO FURTHER THE ANNOYANCES.... Kept dry-humping their kawasaki's and then smacking each other's asses! Now, I know this sounds funny, in retrospect, I'm getting a giggle off of it now, but last night it SUCKED!!!! I maintain a more than safe distance from the motorcycles, because usually I respect them and also, I know a few who have DIED from getting whacked by a car.. But I actually had to pull over at a gas station, because I kept finding myself tailgating them. I started to get near uncontrollable urges to just "tap" their asses and watch them drive off into the embankments!!!  AHHHHHHHHH! Summer here. It would be so much more enjoyable if there were NO TOURISTS! It's like suddenly all the idiots decide to drive down here, like they own the place. It's like "Buddy! You are ANNOYING and STUPID. Your jokes aren't funny, you're driving sucks, and if you mess with me one more time, I SWEAR TO GOD I WILL CEMENT YOUR FEET AND MAKE YOU TAKE A SHORT WALK OFF A LONG PIER!!!"

It's like 'try that in a carnival and you'll get your eyes gouged out!" Only it was the highway, therefore I had to leave their eyes alone. Or else I'd be caling James E. Sokolve esq., and spending life in prison. NOT FAIR!

Bevin modeling the tai chai dress!

medium_bevin.jpg

My favorite (and only) model BEVIN graciously modeled the dress that you all wanted to see, thereby sparing me the humility of the dreaded "I took this in a mirror which looks dirty and there's a big flash ricocheting so you can't really see anyways" shot.

Here they both are in all there beautiful glory.

What happened?

Ohhhhhh. Man. I just thought I'd publically flog myself and divy you in to my evening out last night.

9 p.m. : Bevin and her new beau Jay come and pick me up.

We go to the Mews. My ex-boyfriend's girlfriend Sarah (whom I just adore!) is working so we go and see her for some drinks.. Turns out Bevin's new boyfriend (jay) dated my ex-boyfriend's (matt) now girlfriend (sarah) in college! Yes, that is how small this state really is. I figured so long as I didn't accidentally date him........

I drank a bombay sapphire martini with blue cheese stuffed olives. Then I had a patron silver margarita. (Are you starting to get the picture yet?) Then I think there may have been another drink, then champagne.. We left and went to the Larchwood, which I affectionately call "lounge of the living dead" due to the blue haired quota and the amount of oxygen tanks and defibulaters ready to go at any time.

This is the old school bar, where manhattan's, gimlets, and martini's are de rigeur. (I just emailed Sylvie, so I'm in a french mood) They still have side cars here! (Which means you get your drink, plus a little carafe containing ANOTHER drink) So I get a negroni. That's equal parts gin, campari and sweet vermouth. Then kevin from the ocean mist came in and at this point I really didn't need another drink, but there was a shot glass in front of me, and who am I to argue??? So I think I drank some red wine.

Now, it was a very muggy night and we used to go night swimming alot when we were younger. I get the bright idea that we should go to this pond. Somewhere in the ride Bevin and Jay decide to go to this pool near some golf course. We drove around in circles and this is where I start to really feel the booze. Next thing I know, we are at the BEACH, I have to puke, and I am in Jay's nice nice brandy new VOLVO and I did get the impression that he's uh... anal about it. Cut to me half hanging out of the door with my hands on the sidewalk and throwing up RED stuff! Ewwwwww.

Then miraculously I somehow make it to the wall. It's at least an 8 foot jump. I kind of made it. I landed, then collapsed on (unbeknownst to me at the time) WET SAND. At this point I decided maybe I was too drunk and should be driven home..... IMMEDIATELY. So I don't know how I got up the wall again, and with my back being hurt and all... but I hazily remember being dropped off. I make it inside, my husband, I think was a bit peeved. I notice that I am wet, well damp, actually, it's not like I was dripping. I somehow make it to bed and the next thing I know I wake up and am covered in silver and sand. It is EVERYWHERE. I am hung over, I mean the kind where you have to drink hot tea and take about 10 alleve's.

That's my night. I'm a cheap drunk. I am wondering what poor Jay's car looks like. Must call Bevin....

MEMEMEMEMME!!!!!!!

I got tagged by Alisa from pick up sticks!

I kinda did this half assed, I will fill in some more later though!

1. 10 years ago
God, I would have been 22! Where was I at 22? Oh, probably doing alot of bad for you drugs and being a crazy woman. I'll have to think back harder and re-do this question after I shake out some dust in my brain.. I think I was living with an old boyfriend Matt, which was fun while it lasted but I don't think that I felt fulfilled in any way. I also think I was BORED off my ASS and biding time untill bigger, better things happened. Also, this was probably very close to me breaking it off with Matt and moving to portland.. In which was a total blast. I miss my old buddy Xorba ALOT!!

2. 5 years ago
I was most likely being an adult delinquent, drinking and raising hell with Anthony, playing a ton of music, living in portland and oakland, going on tour with Anthony's band, seeing alot of gigs, going to parties, gardening.... All the stuff I don't do now!!!
3. 1 year ago
We drove cross country with our kid and cat ans was just settling into living here.
4. yesterday
I was in the pool with Helena, Katie, Ruby and Jess. Knitted a few rounds, had blufish and steamers for dinner, gave my husband some "attention" and watched movies.

5. today
Woke up, went out for lunch, met Bevin's new boyfriend, went to my pal Kathryn's to see if I could talk her into parting with one of her precious percocet's (she wasn't home), saw my pal Matt, went and got coffee, ran into my other pals Matt, Rick and Kyle, shot the shit, then went home and filled this thingy out! Will probably pick up some knitting and watch tv then later will go out for drinks with Bevin.

6. tomorrow
I have NO idea, but if it's sunny I will probably be in the pool with Helena and katie and her daughter Ruby. Oh and I need to get back to Sarah! I think there is a knitters meeting that I should be going to if I can remember!

7. 5 snacks I enjoy
Thai smoked tofu, smoked oysters, this is gross, but I like dipping things into dijon mustard ALOT!, all kinds of cheeses and of course hummous.

8. 5 bands I know the lyrics to MOST of their songs
Just 5??? Based with what's in my cd player now... PJ Harvey, the Suplecs, Pentagram, AC/DC, and Black Flag
9. 5 locations I'd like to run away to
France, Scotland, SE Utah actually the southwest in general, Oregon!, and Malta

10. 5 bad habits I have
I smoke! I drink, but not excessively (anymore), I swear alot, I'm on the lazy side, and I drive too fast.
11. 5 things I like doing
Knitting, restoring furniture, thrift shopping, going to see good bands, and road trips.

12. 5 things I would never wear
Acid washed ANYTHING, those stupid t-shirts that say stuff like "princess" from like Walmart, not a big fan of pant suits and the like or any 'business' clothes, those fake tattoo shirts, anything that's wicked trendy

13. 5 tv shows I like
This should be easy.. Carnivale, 6 feet under, Sporano's, Crafters coast to coast, and Twin Peaks

14. 5 movies I like
I actually cried while watching the notebook, mulholland drive, lost highway, vertigo, north by northwest
15. 5 famous people I'd like to meet
Oh man... well.... I don't know, they all seem so crazy.. I'd love to meet PJ harvey.. Joaquin Phoenix.... Uhhhhhh... hmmmm.... I'll think on this some more...

16. 5 biggest joys at the moment
Obviously my BIGGEST JOY is Helena, my beautiful daughter.. Being married to Anthony is a joy (most of the time!!) maybe I should say that finding someone who really, really "gets" you and loves you un-conditionally anyways is a major joy, Spending a ton of time with Helena is a joy because I see her growing every day and every day it's something new and amazing.. Networking with so many of you on a daily basis is a joy! Seriously, it is.. I guess even being alive is a joy, because I DID have tough years where I probably shouldn't have made it through..

17. 5 favorite toys
Uhhhh, my knitting stuff. Ummmmm, that dumb pool we got, uhhhh what constitues a "toy"?? I'd say my computer but it sucks.

I don't know who to tag yet.... if anyone wants to volunteer......

OOPS!

I just got an email from Meowgirl from Knitbuddies! I FORGOT to put in her Lelah! Shame on ME!! Because it IS GORGEOUS, ladies!! Check it out in the gallery of starfishes!

Again, my apologies! I kept having this sneaking suspicion that I was forgetting something!  Iwill write some more later, but I am off to pluck my eyebrows and get ready for brunch/lunch with Bevin and her hillarious mother (as well as my technical knitting advisor) Jan.

PS, I have injured mt back.... AGAIN! I feel like I HAVE OSTEOPEROSIS! Not good.

Double p.s. On a better note, I only gained back 6 pounds, not 12 as previously thought. Must have been water weight, although doesn't 6 pounds of water sound EXCESSIVE??? Yikes!

Blogspirit, WHY?

Ugh, I just wrote a long post and I couldn't copy and save it. pain in the ass.

Anyways, as I was saying... Simmering Samhain! I am all about reciprocal linking, i can't believe how many of you link to ME!!! You're all crazy! BUT, I say "right back atcha babes!" So I have added more to the side bar and will continue to.. So go ahead and look, spread some networking fever and check out some new blogs!!!

My good buddy SARAH has a Lelah in the gallery of STARS! She gets 5 and a 1/2 stars!! It's gorgeous, check it out!!!

Disturbing news of the day... My husband is flipping back and forth between Judas priest on VH1 and a show on poverty.. I was shocked and saddened to hear this statistic.. brace yourselves, but 40%, FORTY! of americans are a MERE 2 (TWO!) paychecks from being HOMELESS!!!!! Bush, I hate you more than ever and I can't even articulate it, because I'll get TOO MAD!!!

Which brings me to my next point.. July is punk month on IFC.. I was watching a GREAT documentary on punk.. Henry Rollins is hillarious (when he's being "Hank", he's actually a smart and funny guy).I laughed and agreed with him 100%! You should all watch it, if that's your cup of tea, that is.. It happens to be mine. I had a mohawk, I went to shows and I was all about my scene! It brought back so many terrific memories, I lamented that things have changed so. I am so proud of my punk roots, it shaped who I am today and I think it probably even saved my life, if not mind more times than I even realize.

But back then, Regan was in office. And he did far less damage then Bush, which leads me to my next thought... We had GREAT, politically charged music back then. It was more than that even, we were a MOVEMENT! What happened??? Now Sum 41 and Good Charlotte is considered 'punk'??? NOT IN MY BOOK! You corperate grubbing money whores with your hot topic ensembles! Yeah right! You sing about sunshine and love and oh this girl hurt my feelings boo hoo! It's sad that the youth of today (sorry, that's a pun) is so ridiculously unaware and blind. So lackadaisical... SHAME!!!! All I can say is WAKE UP!!!!! WAKE THE F*** UP!!!! Stand up, get a voice, and do something about it! This country is F***ED!!!!!!!!!! It's your duty to take the torch and make some statements other than your mom grounded you and your having pre-teen sex!

Yes, I am still menstruating and if you thought this post was bad, you shoulda seen the one that got erased!!! I don't have the heart to re-write it!

Shitty!

Okay! I am menstruating and can I just say that I was reading a very disturbing thread on a not to be named discussion board where a friend was being flamed for stating a very mild, but against the "grain" comment and it's really pissed me off! I replied saying that it wasn't fair for those in question to berate her (going so far as to LINK to her blog!!!!!!!!!) and my comment got deleted! (and the other pal who came to her defense got 86'ed from the board entirely) Sadly, ladies, there ARE folks out there who truly suck a big ol' dick! I have to say that I am truly blessed to be surrounded by such a terrific, open, supportive and KIND knitting community on here!! My only gripe is that there are those out there who are the exact opposite! Shame on them! It's unbelievable that these people, do in fact, exist and even worse........ ARE TOLERATED!!!!!!!!!!! Well, if any of them happen to come across my blog, please do leave a comment with your moronic and biased opinions so I can give you a dose of your own medicine, because I DO NOT TOLERATE your viciousness nor your moranic and immature points of view! UNBELIEVABLE! Everyone has their own opinions, whether I agree or not isn't the issue. The issue lies in how one goes about stating their opinions! And to try and PUBLICALLY humiliate 2 friends of mine is, I'm sorry, INFURIATING to me! The retardation factor was at a mind blowing 11 on the richter scale.

I am so glad that this doesn't exist on Craftster. Thank GOD for CRAFTSTER!

That aside, I'll have you all know that we went out and bought a humongus inflatable pool. Too big! We exchanged it for a smaller one.. filled it up, too big, not enough level ground... Bought ANOTHER (teeny tiny) pool.. Anthony has inflated it, today my job is to find just 8 feet of level ground so i can teach Helena to swim! Wish me luck, it aint looking pretty!

In knitting news, the piece up for Spun's fall issue is sooooo close to being done! Freeing up my size 5 circulars for Crumpets!! Sweet sassy molassey, by the time I get started (and finished) I pray that it'll still fit Helena! SHEEESH!

My friend Kathryn has been in the hospital for like 5 days now. She's hurt her back and had to have an mri, and I am seriously freaking out as to WHY she has been in there so long! I have gone and visited her almost everyday now..

My friend Candy is in LA, but will be leaving for Thailand and Indonesia shortly! God, I really tried to get her to watch "brokedown palace"!!! I'm envisioning her on her hands and knees "cutting" the grass by hand! Luckily she has access to computers and I get myspace messages from her regularly.

I can't believe the bombings in the UK. How absolutely sad. I still feel like it's all Bush's fault. I hate that guy! My mom told me not to say this to anyone, but oh, how I wish that he was on the tube instead of all the innocent folks!

Well, today's theme is " I am menstrual here me ROAR!" Despite my ravings, I am actually in a great mood. Don't be fooled, it's just the hormones and cramps talking. I think most of you know that even in the most negative posts, there is always a mischevious twinkle in my winking eye!

One of these days, I'll bombard you all with some new optical treats! For now, my gorgeous ladies of knitting, I am signing off to go in search of level ground!

OSW and dress

medium_oswf.jpgmedium_oswb.jpgHere's the one (and 1/8th) skein wonder! I used fiberstead farms wonderful wool, untill I ran out and finished with fiberstead farms marvelous mohair.

As for the dress, Anthony took a few shots when we realized that you REALLY NEED A SLIP to wear it! So I WILL post up some soon, just after I find a suitable errr, lining for it! I'm not manning a soft core porn blog here ladies! I do have a little bit of modesty. But since so many of you have been asking about it I'll give you the run-down. I got the pattern from Art Fibers. It wasn't really a pattern per se, and she gave it to me for free before I had even bought any yarn, so I think it'd be okay to share a bit. The original version used tai chai and different stitch patterns, I used Lania. I can't believe it's cotton! It's so silky and lux! Anyways, you start by measuring around the underarms, get a gauge on size 6 circs, and figure out how many to cast on. Then you knit about 3/4" and then a purl round, then you choose a stitch pattern (I used sand stitch) So you continue for a whole ball of yarn (170 - 240 yards), then you switch to #8 circs and a new st pattern (I did dot stitch) then to 10.5 circs and another st pattern (I used embossed moss st ribbing) and then to 11's (I did diagonal madeira lace) then 13's (I did star rib mesh) and finally finish with 15's (I did about 3-4 repeats of feather and fan) Then all you do is fold over the top and sew down leavcing about a 1 - 2" opening in front, then make an i cord and thread that thru. Make sure you have a slip.

Bad pictures, better days

Ooh, the whole layout on blogspirit has changed! Weird!

Anyways, I took a few crappy pics and am in a rush.. so here's the dress and orangina.

Later I'll post the one skein wonder and maybe me even modeling the dress, that is if Anthony can manage to take a decent picture!
I'll write more about them later. The dress is swo fun to knit and feels amazing! I think I need to get a slip though!

Sorry about the boob shot, this is the reason why I hardly ever post up pics, I can't seem to take one of myself!
