For Kaitlyn!
Fat Argus!!!!!!!!!!!
kaitlyn thinks her cat is fat, hahahahahaa! Meet FAT ARGUS! He really is 'big boned' but he's also FAT! And the reason his whole hind quarters are shaved (and I spared you his big old fuzzy grapes, your welcome!) is because at 23 pounds and the rather rotund mid-section, he can't make it back there to clean himself often and because he's a weirdo and hides out all the time and hates to be brushed (he BITES!!!!) he went all rasta on us and got these big ol dredlocks! And he's short haired! I didn't think that was even possible. So, Kaitlyn.. Joey is a spritely little thing next to this lard ass~ I put my (big) hands down for better judging his mammoth beefiness.
In other news, I got an email from my secret pal!!! And I can tell she's a fun chick! Hoooray! We are both secret pal virgins! And she's a Libra! (so is my husband, I love Libra's!)
In other news, I'm goin' to california next week and will be gone 10 days and with NO internet access, so I'll be off-line! Will I survive? It's hard to say! But I am planning on meeting up with Ros, who is my yarn saint of the year as she has procured me COTTON EASE in SUGAR PLUM for my CRUMPET'S!!!!! I love her, love her, love her! (Plus ANY friend of Joy's is more than alright by me!) And I get to meet my younger self-version Jess! I love her like a little sister! She's so rad! AND hopefully Lily too! Totimoshi will be playing while we are there and in less exciting news, Dave Atell will be touring on his bus too, although I will try and avoid him! Am I the only one who thinks he is really Vin Diesel's non-diesel brother???
Has anyone seen my friend Colleen's paintings???? Here's a new one!
Oh! And did anyone see thissssssssss?????? (pam, lily, and jess especially!) This guy rules!

Secret Pal!
Good things this week (aside from getting my period this morning) include SOMEONE SENT MY WALLET BACK!!!! WHAT!!!! Yep, sans the money and like 4 months later, I don't need anything in it anymore but someone was a good samaritan, so thank you!
AND I got assigned my secret pal!! Who seems pretty cool!
So now that they are assigning, here's the questionaire for my (unknown) pal!
I'm ultra excited! I can't wait to splurge and spoil someone!
1. Are you a yarn snob (do you prefer higher quality and/or natural fibers)? Do you avoid Red Heart and Lion Brand? Or is it all the same to you?
Yes, I am a yarn snob, although I have been trying to conform. It depends on the project, but after experimenting with cheapo yarns.... I hate yarns that split! But I'm pretty easy to please, despite all of that!
2. Do you spin? Crochet?
I'd love to start spinning, I have 2 wheels but haven't had the time to. I would love to crochet, alas, aside from single chains and finishing edges, my crochet skills are non to poor!
3. Do you have any allergies? (smoke, pets, fibers, perfume, etc.)
No! And I smoke so I wouldn't even know, nevermind get offended if anyone sent me yarn that smelled of smoke!
4. How long have you been knitting?
Since about 14 years old, off and on, but only really started to pick it up obsessively when I was pregnant, so the past 3 years I've been knitting 'seriously'.
5. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?
I just made one! I'm going to add some more stuff later just for an idea of the type of stuff I like. I consider this for ideas/reference and do not expect anything on there :)
clicky here
6. What's your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products etc.)
I'm partial to flowery smells and earthy smells. (Sandalwood, gardenia, lily, lilac, jasmine, honeysuckle, honey to name a few)
7. Do you have a sweet tooth?
No, not really.
8. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do?
Not many these days. I used to make jewelry (beads and a 2 year old don't mix!), I sew, I used to make alot of different stuff, but again, anything requiring sharp or small objects, hot glue guns and the like I've had to put on hold untill my daughter is a bit older.
9. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD)
I am all about old punk and metal, 60's and 70's garage rock, stoner rock, but I also have a soft spot for Nick Cave, PJ Harvey, Siouxsie and the Banshees, and old prog rock.
10. What's your favorite color? Or--do you have a color family/season/palette you prefer? Any colors you just can't stand?
I don't have a favorite color, but I am partial to certain shades of colors. I love ice blues, moss greens, orange, black, scarlett red, I like combined yarns too, glittery, thick and thins, and I love yarns with nubbies! As long as it isn't primary colors or neon, I like it!
11. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?
I have a GREAT husband (who supports my yarn addiction with a half smile!) and we have a beautiful daughter together who is almost 2 and a cat that drools.
12. What are your life dreams? (really stretching it here, I know)
I've met most of mine, but buying a house in the near future would be a dream come true!
13. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with?
Almost all of them! I tend to do alot of mohairs and wools but am trying to get out of that.
14. What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?
Fun fur and eyelash type stuff.
15. What is/are your current knitting obsession/s?
Designing!!!!
16. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit?
Skirts, I'm loving knitting from the top down lately for tops, anything involving lace.
17. What are you knitting right now?
Something I designed for the fall issue of spun mag.
18. What do you think about ponchos?
I like the old 70's ones with fringe and native american motifs!
19. Do you prefer straight or circular needles?
It's a close call but I'll go with circular since I am not fond of seams. (I don't need any extra anything on my sides!)
20. Bamboo, aluminum, plastic?
Circulars, bamboo
Straights, aluminum and plastic
21. Are you a sock knitter?
Not yet, I had NO interest but I think I want to try!
22. How did you learn to knit?
My mother taught me.
23. How old is your oldest UFO?
Hahaha, my 1st attempt at designing from 10th grade! (I'm 32 now!) I actually like it and would wear it today, if I could find the yarn to finish it!
24. What is your favorite animated character or a favorite animal/bird?
Hawks
25. What is your favorite holiday?
Halloween
26. Is there anything that you collect?
Native American jewelry, vintage patterns, vintage clip earrings and clothes.
27. What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have?
I don't suscribe, but I buy Interweave Knits.
28. Any books out there you are dying to get your hands on?
The last 3 Rowan's. I can't keep up with them!

Yob and Hidden Hand!!!!!!
This is SO not knitting related and I am desperately trying to recover from my weekend of indulgence and excess! But it was sooo great to see our friends again! I'm putting up pics now, commentary to come later when the hangover fog is lifted!
I don't know what's wrong with me lately, I am just avoiding the blog! Sorry, guys!
I did however go out with Bevin and some other pals friday night, stayed up untill 4 am yakking with Bevin in the living room. Next day a birthday party for my cousin's kid. And then Anthony and I drove up to Quincy. What in the hell is a show like that doing in Quincy? Aside from the fact that it took longer to find the place than it did to drive and it's too quaint of a "towne" for a doom show... Ended up selling merch, drank like 10 drinks that *may* have had alcohol in them, but I couldn't be sure.. at least they were cheap.. The show was great. The opening band had this old, and I mean OLD dude who was a) late b) extremely intoxicated and c) semi-horrendous. Yob was fantastic as usual, my only complaint is that they didn't play 4 hours longer. Hidden Hand, well, what can you say about Wino that already hasn't been said? The man is a living icon and a badass to boot! Ran into the Lamont guys! Pete Knipfer is like an INSURANCE AGENT!!!! (further proof that we are all getting too old). OH, I also got to chat with Mike's wife Stacey who didn't come on tour, even though I was really hoping she's be there! So I was glad to yak a while with her, she is such an excellent chick. Went to the Model, ran into a million other pals, went to a party, and crawled into bed at 5 am!!!!!! Oh, and while we were out (my mom babysat) Helena got onto the top of my dresser and into some glitter, so it was like coming home to a 2 year old Ziggy Stardust (literally!).
Went to sleep and I still feel like I am recovering. So now I won't go out for another 6 months!
In other news, everyone managed to get the article done and it is now in Spun's hands, it'll be in the upcoming issue, so make sure you read it!
I have maybe 2-3 more days on the secret project!!!!!! Maybe less! YEY!!!!!!!!!
It's COLD and RAINY!!!!
I love and miss my friend Jennifer in Oregon, A TON! She called the other day and we talked for 3+ hours! The theme here may be how much I miss Oregon! But Boston, you're a-ok too! And if someone sees a rolled up size small Yob shirt, it's MINE!!!!!!!!

MSW 2
Great, I go to write the article and I am missing the page where I wrote down all the bloggers we met! So if anyone can refresh my memory, comment please!
That being said, I finished my rough draft, now am just waiting on the other LLOL's versions! (That's not LOL! Ewwww! It's LOVELY LADIES OF LEISURE! That's what I get for abbreviating)
And the article will be in Spun's summer edition in the "tripping" section. WHEEEEEEEEEEEE!
I've been slaving away on my top secret knitting thing (for submission) and it's going slowly but steadily. I really wish I had pictures of nice new fo's for y'all but this baby has been sucking up all of my knitting time. I swear when I am done, I am going on a big needle bonanza, just so I can have some instant gratification objects!
I'm getting fat, I am thinking of joining curves! EEEEEEEEEEEEK! I gotta do something! Living in this small ass town with nothing to do except knit and take my kid to the park is really starting to pile up (in the form pounds!)
What else? God, it's been super busy and BORING at the same time lately! But this weekend I get to hang out with some pals from Eugene Oregon! YEY! Of course, we have to drive like an hour and a half each way, each night. But, it'll be worth it!
Oh, my cousin's wife apparantly got into a fist fight with his ex girlfriend, big gossip in the family! (I really have no opinion on the subject)
That's all (sigh) for now. Hopefully my next post will resemble something witty and at least slightly amusing!

Babies, Supersuckers, Lelah's, etc.
There are 2 more lelah's in the gallery! Go see Jess' HERE,
and Lauren's (with straps, people, STRAPS!) HERE!!!
I DID go and see the Supersucker's last night! And I am glad I did! I got to hang out with Ron Heathman and Eddie, whom I haven't seen either in ages! It brought back alot of good memories and I almost felt 19 again! We all have kids now and are married! But things don't change all that much! They played a ton of old stuff. By the time Reverend Horton Heat came on, I had drank enough redbull and vodka (I didn't ask for it, but it kept making it's way into my hands) that I actually "danced" So I think it's suffice to say, I WAS IN RARE FORM last night!!!! Made it home at like 3 am (and that's leaving the show early) I got all froggy on Horton Heat for not playing 400 bucks, even though he kept telling me that they were only doing ballads or some shit. So sorry to Jim for the semi heckling! Oh yes, and Dan Bolton was MIA, he's in "rock and roll rehab" apparantly.. Even my husband had a terrific time! So good on all counts and worth the drive.
I went with Matt Johnson too, who is like my brother and we all met up at Bevin's house. Yes, it's that Bevin and YES, I got pictures of her modeling her namesake!!!!!!!!!!!
AND, ladies and gentlemen, I present to you ***GARRETT BRADY NORMAN***
Born: May 7, 2005 at 5:28AM
Weight: 9 pounds & 4 ounces
Length: 20 inches
Laura Brady-Norman!!!!!! I am SOOOOO proud of you!!!!! I love you so much and I can't wait to meet your new little man!! You are going to be the best mother EVER! And I am off to purchase some luxurious yarn to knit up something super special for Garrett!

MSW I
I'm totally sick and I sound alot like froggy from the little rascals! So this is just a preview of us at the msw..
Mel took photo's that she has yet to send us, and the photo's here are from Kaitlyn's camera.. Since there are a ton of sheep and well, wool shots, I am not going to put those up because they'll most likely be going into the spun article anyways! So consider this a preview!

So the pictures are as follows:
Me and Sarah at the wharf rat
Mel, Mary and me at the wharf rat (great food by the way! and the bartender was uber nice and made stiff ones)
Jeb and Pete (or Dave, I can't remember, but the 1/2 naked one did a booby pec dance for us and bought us all beer!)
Jeb doing the pectoral dance for us (I swear that's as far as it went)
Mary, Sarah and me yakking as usual
Me and Joy
Joy and Sarah fondling some biggy balls
Joy and sparring llama's (I think we all bought one of these)
So that's all for now, I'll put up more pics later, when I get them from Mel...
But we had a blast, the night was fun (mary is a queen rager! Sandra can hold her own too!) The next day, although hungover, was beautiful! I got a sunburn!! YES!!! I only spent around 150 bucks total too, so I am soooo proud of my bad self!
I'm off to partake in some theraflu and a nappy nap.. More details later! I'm fricking SICK!!! (I hope no one else gets sick!)
To all the girls, I love you all so much! I can't wait for our next excursion/adventure!!!

Horrorscope for the day
Just thought I'd share this, it's funny and appropriate for this weekend (my horrorscope)
In the mood to indulge? Typically, you don't need any encouragement in that department. So given just a bit of a nudge, like the heavenly one you'll receive now -- well, 'hedonistic' is an understatement.
Hahaha, UH-OH!
Right, well, my lovely ladies, I'll be back sun or monday to fill you all in! Everyone have a great weekend!
Wish me luck with restraining myself from spending a small fortune on yarn!
Oh and there were 2 typo's that were on the free patterns page. I'm not the saviest typer (nor speller apparantly, savy? saviest? this blog needs spellchecker for sure!)
So I am so sorry for any confusion, misunderstandings or frustrations. But c'mon they are FREE patterns, and nothing in life is truly for free! I'm KIDDING!
Here are the corrections:
In the LELAH top, it read *1p1, ... on the first row.. The correction made is *P1, .....
And on the Sarah top, the gauge was way off, it's 20 st= 4"....
Again, I apologize for any inconveniences!

Political post
But you should really read it anyways!
Due to the argumentative nature politics brings out in just about everyone, please note that this is MY blog, therefore MY opinions belong here, I don't want to argue with anyone about politics, and I suport everyone's right to their own opinions, even assinine ones, tee hee.
But I have to urge you all to take a part, it can be as minimal as just signing petitions (if you are democrat) like these 2.... I'll spare a super long post explaining, rather I'll provide links so those of you who want to make a difference can.
Those who want to can join this great organization MoveOn
1st petition is about Pat Robertson (On Sunday morning, Christian Coalition founder Rev. Pat Robertson told TV viewers nation-wide that the threat posed by liberal federal judges "probably more serious than a few bearded terrorists who fly into buildings." Robertson's statement is only the most outrageous example of a growing effort from the extreme right to whip up an intense fear and hatred of American judges. The strategy is designed to build support for the Republican "nuclear" scheme to break the rules and stack the courts — and it is poisonous to our democracy. Sign our petition demanding Republican leaders reject these comments and end the intimidation now. Then, help air our new TV ad, Reject Robertson.)
The 2nd one Is for withdrawing John Bolton's nomination fo UN ambassador.. (Senator Barbara Boxer recently launched a new online advocacy campaign to urge President Bush to withdraw John Bolton's name and nominate a new UN Ambassador -- and I hope you'll join it.
John Bolton's nomination is dividing the country. This is a man who has shown nothing but contempt for the United Nations throughout his career. This is a man who has bullied intelligence analysts to try to get them to say what he wants, even when it's not true. This is a man who doesn't get along well with others and, if confirmed, would be entrusted with representing our nation in sensitive diplomatic negotiations at the United Nations.
Surely we can do better. Surely we can find a nominee for UN Ambassador that America can support and get behind -- not someone who divides our country and alienates our allies.)
I think it's important to be aware of the republican agenda and no matter what, stand up and be a voice against it, and be vocal as to show what is REALLY GOING ON with the sad state of our goverment! Things have GOT TO CHANGE!

And MORE lelah's!!!
I'm just floating around today, I'm in a great mood (despite the fact that I'm totally menstrual and have been eating the worst foods)
There are TWO more Lelah's in the gallery! First one is Winnie's, see here for more details... go to her blog to see what kind of yarn she used and needle sizes!
And I just got some pics from Jessica from fig and plum , who used recycled yarn! (and it is COOL yarn!) I put a detail pic up along with hers so you can all see the effect better!
Thank you girls!! You both make me so proud! You both did absolutely beautiful jobs!
Not that you all need to hear me go on about Libby Baker AGAIN, but this is soooo blogworthy!!! I told her about how they were dis-continuing cotton-ease, she said she had heard about that, called and confirmed that indeed they are dis-continuing, and then went so far as OFFERING to pick me up some from her local store!!! What a total sweetheart! I know I would do the same thing, but it's so nice when someone else will go that extra mile! (And the same goes for you ROS!!!) I'm just so pleasantly overwhelmed about all the kindness of (semi) strangers!! I feel blessed to have such a great network of fellow knitters and readers! All of you guys are just so amazing and fun and kind!

More lelah's my lovies...
Just put in a new Lelah, this one's from Buki on craftster... Can I just say that this is a perfect color and that she did a super professional job?! Clicky here
Crumpets!!!!!!!! Shakes fist in the air "ET TU, CRUMPETS, ET TU??" I have made 2 trips to stores (well, make that like 6 stores but only 2 where I made purchases) and now I have like 5 skeins of yarn with no mission or purpose in life..
Heide informed me (as well as the lady at the store, but I thought that she meant that JUST THE STORE) cotton ease is DISCONTINUED!!!!!!!!! Booohoooohoooohooo, I'm crying, well, I am about to anyways. I even was ready to overcome my dislike for cables. Because crumpets is sooooo cute. I also can never find a match for Hush-hush either. And let's just talk about BELLE EPOQUE for a second.. Oh, it is sooooo beautiful... Libby Baker, I will make ALL of your beautiful creations, someday, I am swearing to all of you! You are all my witnesses!! It's just that this whole yarn thing is conspiring against me! And Cambio too!
I'm a total and complete flake... When I need substitutions, do I bring the pattern with me? Of course not! So that is how I end up with all this extra yarn. (well that and just blindly buying yarn with no particular project in mind) I like to take the long and hard road, people! I live for frustration and chaos. I'm *almost* jealous of my knitting pals that possess the self control, patience and foresight, but then my blog would be super boring because I'd have nothing to complain about. Admit it, my chaos is to your amusements and you all know it!
I suppose I could re-configure the pattern to a different gauge, but aside from being lazy and mathmetically challenged, I feel it would be sacreligious to alter anything. (of course this almost never applies to most other patterns that I absolutely just HAVE to change). Yes, I have mentioned this many many times, and I dare to say again, she is by far and above one of (if not #1) favorite designers.
MEL is coming with me to msw! Yes!!!! I truly dread driving alone, even if it's only to ct to meet sarah baby. Besides she really needs to fill me in on this new man "billy" who she's like super duper crazy in lovey with.. Mel is like my sister, so I am very much all "And just exactly WHAT are your intentions with her? Are you a good earner, responsible? Will you take care of her? And just in case you are thinking about her for a fool, I WILL LOP YOUR LIL CAJONES OFF WITH A DULL AND RUSTY PAIR OF GARDENING SHEARS!" Well, he is all moving super fast on her and stuff, talkin' marriage, babies, putting her on his health plan, and THEY'VE ONLY BEEN DATING LESS THAN A MONTH!!!!!!!!!!
I hung out with Candy today so that was fun. We went to beauty stores for her classes, got lost in bad parts of town and drank too much coffee. Listened to my new cd's. (Huband of the year got me the new pj harvey, a can re-issue and the new qotsa - lullabies to paralyze - boy they aren't kidding, this album is BORING!!!!!!!!)
Ooooh! And Yob is playing soon!!!!!!!! YYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!
Finally a good week and weeks to come!

Title
So yesterday I went and *thought* I would pick up some yarn for Crumpets... I brought the pattern with me.. I picked up 3 skeins of cotton tots in a rush, got home and grrrrrrrrrrr it's the wrong yarn. It was supposed to be cotton ease... I thought it looked too bulky. I'm such a retard sometimes.
Speaking of being a retard, I can't put up the evite on this page...
