Today I get ORGANIZED!!!

Oooooh! I just got a post from ANDREA, who is more than 3/4's done with Lelah!!!! Finally, to start seeing more lelah's!! They are all coming out so gorgeous!!! Stop thanking ME for the pattern, I'm thanking YOU for knitting it! It makes me SOOOOO INCREDIBLY HAPPY! I'm on cloud nine! I'm all sally field "they like it! they really, really like it!" Check out Andrea's here , she's using cotton tots in white and it looks fabulous!! I love you Andrea! Thanks for sharing!! You rule! Getting feedback from y'all seriously keeps me going!

Okay, I am ashamed to even post some of these up, but I figured I needed to document this as I am trying desperately to get organized!!!!!!!!!! I went and spent 50 bucks the other day @ Staples. I'm thinking I have way too much yarn that I probably will never even use! I have even more that you can't see in there!
Anyways, here goes!

medium_helena.jpg Helena is going to help!
medium_circulars1.jpg Forgot I even had these. That makes 8 pairs of size 8 circulars, 24".....
GREAT IDEA!

I tried the unbiased bag a few times which ended up looking more like a big bra, I'll rip that out. I do love the black and purple yarn, it's destined to be something else.
The hippie shawl is made of leftover's. It'll be fab once I block and finish the edges. It reminds me of something free people would carry.
So I am trying to get myself amped up on coffee so I can tackle this! I may have a small coronary.
I found a great tip somewhere on the net saying that a good way to keep all of your circulars is in an accordian file folder!!!!!!!!! YES, IT IS!!! BRILLIANT!!! Those thingamajigs are such a pain in the arse-ah!
Here is 50 bucks semi-well spent:
tabbed dividers
stapler
new pens
more graph paper
small working notebook
accordian folder
Big orange binder
I am wondering now how this could all amount to 50 bucks! Unless I forgot a couple items or the store overcharged me, hmmmmmm. I'm sure the receipt is gone! DRAG!

OH, ONE more thing, thanks to Collette for making me an honarary member of the BOOZEHAG CLUB!!!! It's a really neato FUN site, check it here or on my FUN LINKS thingy on the right hand side there. She's going to do a small article about my blog too! WOWEE ZOWEE! She's so mcuh fun that I wish she didn't live in New Zealand! No, strike that- She's so much fun that I wish I lived in new zealand. I hear New Zealand is like a cooler Australia! PLUS, there is some great ART!

AND because I am procrastinating, I took a couple more horrid shots of sarah, which I fudged around with trying to make it so you can actually see the lace details.. My favorite color is black, but I am seriously considering never knitting with it again, due to the inability to "capture" it on digital!!! If it's a BRIGHT sunny day out, it'll work, but today is very dreary my dearies.

p.s. never mind the kitty hairs all over it!

Hello! I just saw the craftster thread about Lelah and had to tell that it's gorgeous and I can't wait to knit it!

Hey Christine,

My god, that accordian folder to store your circ needles idea is genius! I have been trying to figure out forever how to put those suckers away. Right now, my circs are all knotting up in a wooden bowl I got from Crate and Barrel or something. Thanks so much for the idea! Genius, I say!

And even in your supposed "horrid" shots of Sarah, I can tell that is one hot top. Great job.

Yes, black FOs are a nightmare to take pics of. For some reason, the color will look either navy blue or just really washed out in photos. The stitching doesn't come out at all and I have to run a link brush over them a few times to get all the fuzzy crap off so it will look pretty for the camera. sigh.

Keep it up, Christine. You cease to amaze me with your knitting ability and creativity. You're awesome.

:)

i'm also about 3/4 through lelah... but pictures would be useless at this point. the yarn is just not letting me see the pattern--i am sure it will all come out in the blocking!

I will let you know if (or should I say when) I knit Lelah. Yes, if you come out to SF drop me a line, I've never shopped for yarn up there but they're bound to have great stores!

hey christine, staples is a money pit of organizational possiblities but soo worth it! can I tell you how AMAZING the accordain file thing is? I am smacing myself in the head it's so clever!
ps I had a yarn storage breakthrough the other day, but I wont be home for a week to try it out...will post if it works.

pps congrats on your spun submission!!!I sent in my fuzzy bra when they made their first call (b4 their first issue) but never heard back :(

Wow!! Your stash is even more buldging than mine! Right now I can get away with piling various balls and skeins in a big, wicker basket, but it's now reached full capacity! How in the world do you store asymmetrical, blobby, squishy yarn so that you can see it?!

Posted by: Amanda | Thursday, March 24, 2005

You have a serious case of stash overflow!!!! It is an unfortunate side effect of knitting.

Awesome! Just let me know a little bit in advance so I can take time off work! Yay, yarn shopping!!!!

Thank you guys! Well, I still have been avoiding the mountain of yarn, it's mostly winter stuff and despite the cold weather, I can't bear to lok at it.
I'm going to purchase large quantities of cotton yarn tomorrow, and I will have the Sarah top re-knitted in cotton and revised and the pattern up by the end of the weekend! I think I might go down a size or 2 on the needles too.
I have inherited so much yarn, I don't know what to do!
Amanda, I was thinking of clear containers, but that still doesn't take care of the looser unraveling ones! I'm so jealous of those folks who have the shallow shelving system. One of these days I'll get to home depot and buy those stackable shoe shelve-things! I have no where to put them yet!
The acccordian folder has been working GREAT! A wise investment indeed! It's the best set-up I've found so far!
Thanks everyone for all the kind comments!

Wow, your yarn room looks like mine! When you're done with her couldja send Helena my way? I need an organizational assistant. She doesn't need to be able to read, but counting helps....
